Rigor Relevance Framework – Tools dalam mengolah knowledge

Konsep dalam mengembangkan pengetahuan idealnya harus dimiliki oleh sebuah Learning Center atau Lembaga Pendidikan, dari memahami kompleksitas yang dimiliki hingga bagaimana pengetahuan tersebut diolah. Begitupun dengan perusahaan atau organisasi dalam mengelola pengetahuannya. Salah satu cara memahaminya kita dapat merujuk pada sebuah tools yang menjelaskan tahapan untuk mengolah knowledge dari yang paling sederhana hingga tahap yang kompleks. Salah satu tools yang umum digunakan yaitu Rigor/Relevance Framework®.

Salah satu cara memahaminya kita dapat merujuk pada sebuah tools yang menjelaskan tahapan untuk mengolah knowledge dari yang paling sederhana hingga tahap yang kompleks. Salah satu tools yang umum digunakan yaitu Rigor/Relevance Framework®. 

Dr Willard R Dagget pada tahun 2016 menulis dalam bukunya Rigor / Relevance Framework: A Guide to Focusing Resources to Increase Student Performance, menjelaskan tentang proses belajar dan tahapan bagaimana seseorang dapat mengaplikasikan ilmu pengetahuan yang didapat. Rigor / Relevance Framework sendiri adalah sebuah tools yang dibangun untuk menguji kurikulum pelajaran, tugas-tugas dan assesment. Framework ini menggunakan dua dimensi, yaitu kualitas kurikulum (standard yang lebih tinggi) dan pencapaian siswa. Dalam kaitannya dengan knowledge management (KM), framework ini sangat membantu dalam memetakan materi pembelajaran, menyusun tingkatan dan mengukur kompetensi karyawan serta dapat dijadikan referensi dalam pengambilan keputusan strategis.
 
Rigor / Relevance Framework memiliki dua pengukuran yang digambarkan dalam grafik sebagai sumbu atau dimensi. Dimensi yang pertama adalah dimensi berfikir (thinking continuum)  dan dimensi yang kedua adalah dimensi aksi (action continuum). Dimensi yang pertama diambil dari 6 Tahap Knowledge Taxonomy oleh Bloom, dari akuisisi hingga asimilasi (Bloom Taxonomy).

Di dimensi ini, setiap tahapan menggambarkan sebuah proses bagaimana kita berpikir. Semakin tinggi tingkat seseorang dalam berpikir maka dia tidak semata-mata dapat menggunakan pengetahuan dalam aspek kognitif saja atau berhenti hanya sampai pada tahap “mengetahui”,  tetapi pada tahap yang lebih lanjut seseorang dapat menggunakan pengetahuannya lebih aplikatif (menerapkan dalam kehidupannya sehari-hari). Pada tahapan akhir,  ilmu pengetahuan dalam diri seseorang menjadi benar-benar terintegrasi dalam pikiran.

Adapun dimensi berfikir (thinking continuum) terdiri dari:
1. Remembering (Mengingat)
2. Understanding (Mengerti)
3. Applying (Mengaplikasikan / menerapkan)
4. Analyzing (Menganalisa)
5. Evaluating (Mengevaluasi)
6. Creating (Menciptakan)

Selain dimensi berfikir, pada dimensi aksi (Action Continuum) digambarkan bagaimana knowledge digunakan. Pada tahap awal, ruang lingkup sangat terbatas hingga pada tahap selanjutnya ruang lingkup semakin meluas.  Adapun urutannya adalah:
1. knowledge dalam satu bidang
2. Diterapkan dalam satu bidang
3. Diterapkan di antar bidang
4. Diterapkan di dalam kehidupan sehari-hari pada situasi yang terduga
5. Diterapkan di dalam kehidupan sehari-hari pada situasi yang tidak terduga
   
Dari kedua dimensi tersebut, lebih jauh framework  ini menjelaskan tingkatan tingkatan yang tergambar dalam 4 (empat) kuadran, yaitu:

Kuadran A (Akuisisi)
Contohnya seorang karyawan di sebuah perusahaan diminta untuk mengikuti sebuah training. Pada dasarnya, karyawan tersebut bertugas untuk mengumpulkan dan menyimpan informasi atau knowledge yang diterima. Dengan diberikannya knowledge tersebut, harapannya adalah karyawan yang sebelumnya ‘tidak tahu’, menjadi ‘tahu’. Tetapi harapan perusahaan dalam menugaskan karyawan untuk belajar bukan hanya untuk sekedar ‘mengingat’, tapi juga di tuntut untuk dapat mencerna dan memahami materi. Proses ini dinamakan akuisisi yang terletak di kuadran A (dimana pengetahuan diingat dan dipahami oleh karyawan).

Kuadran B (Aplikasi)
Setelah memahami materi, karyawan peserta pelatihan tadi lalu mendemonstrasikan kembali sesuai dengan apa yang diajarkan   (mempraktikannya) di pekerjaan sehari-hari. Proses ini masuk ke dalam kuadran B, dimana peserta sudah menerapkannya  dalam bentuk perilaku. Karyawan menggunakan knowlwdge yang dimiliki untuk memecahkan masalah, mendesain solusi dan menyelesaikan pekerjaan. Tingkat tertinggi dari aplikasi adalah menerapkan knowledge yang sesuai pada situasi yang terduga dan tidak terduga.

Kuadran C (Asimilasi)
Setiap peserta traning diminta untuk menilai assignment atau project yang dilakukan oleh peserta lain dan menganalisis apakah sudah sesuai dengan materi/teori yang telah disampaikan. Di dalam kuadran ini, terdapat proses berpikir yang lebih dalam dimana seseorang sudah membandingkan antara yang ‘ideal’ (sesuai dengan teori) dan yang dipraktikan dalam kondisi riil.

Kuadran D (Adaptasi)
Peserta yang sebelumnya sudah mempratikkan cara yang baik, juga mempraktikkannya dalam situasi dan kondisi yang tidak terduga (tidak dapat diprediksi). Peserta kemudian mendapatkan pelajaran dan memformulasikan ulang teori apa saja yang bekerja dan tidak bekerja sesuai dengan pengalaman yang dia alami. Dia bisa saja menemukan formula baru atau teori baru yang dia dapat dari pengalaman sehingga dapat merekomendasikan praktik yang digunakan dan mengajarkannya kepada orang lain. Proses yang cukup panjang tersebut termasuk ke dalam kuadran D (adaptasi) dimana seseorang sudah dapat mengkritisi, mempraktikkan dalam dunia nyata berulang-ulang sehingga menemukan pelajaran baru yang dapat dibagi kepada orang lain.
